Lost Angel

When I arrived at work yesterday it was to the sad news that one of my students who was in her 35th-36th week of pregnancy had lost her baby. I can't begin to imagine how devastating that must be for her and her family and, as always in a time of loss, you feel so helpless.

I want to send a card so she will know I am thinking of her and sharing in her grief but I need your help - I am really not sure if the card I have made is appropriate. I'm worried that it looks too much like a baby card and not enough like a sympathy card, so I would REALLY appreciate your feedback on this one. I did use "baby" colours on purpose, but is it too ... too ... I don't even know what word I'm trying to say! Please let me know what you think ... feel free to make any suggestions for improvement ...

Materials used:

  • stamps - Thoughts & Prayers
  • card - white linen (non SU), pool party
  • other - Big Shot, beautiful wings embosslit die, designer frames EF, in stitches (non SU) EF, white organza ribbon, sponge dauber

Thanks for stopping by and for your comments.

Cheers
Kez

  1. It's a beautiful card Kez, but, it does look a bit like a baby card to me because of the soft colours. Could you keep the design, love the simplicity and the butterflies, but change the colour?

  2. I think it is just beautiful - what a terribly sad time for your friend, particularly this far along in her pregnancy. Sending thoughts & prayers her way xxx

  7. Firstly Kerry....sending hugs and thoughts to both you and your work colleague. I cannot befin to fathom eht loss and devestation she and her partmer must be feeling. I think the card is appropriate because to me, b'flies (amongst many other things) signify comfort and hope. Nothing is going to take their pain and hurt away, but a message of love and support from a friend will go a long way to help ease their pain. ooxx

  9. I am so sorry for the sadness you are feeling for your student & husband.
I have to say. This card IS PERFECT!
Baby funerals always have white coffins ... so the white is perfectly appropriate ... and I think the butterflies give a sense that even though the baby has died ... it was a little person ... and it is still with them in spirit. I also think the soft baby colours show that this wasn't someone old who passed ... but a tiny little baby.
So ... in my opinion ... I think you should send it! (But ... I am probably too late to give an opinion, anyway!)
    Hugs xx
