Christmas in July

The colours for this week's Color Throwdown challenge intrigued me and now that we're into July, Christmas came to mind for a card.

I stamped my background with Versamark then sprinkled with embossing glaze - love their translucency, plus it gives a little shine. My arch piece was cut from teal card and I added teal ink to give it a darker shade, added the ground then splattered with white paint for the snow. My house was cut from various card and also splattered with 'snow'. Then it was a matter of adding some foliage, a sentiment sticker and pearls for berries.

• stamps - Christmas background (My Favorite Things)
• card - basic white, pool party, bubble bath, smoky slate (all Stampin' Up)
• dies - Essential Arches (Spellbinders), Holiday Greens mini (Tim Holtz), Home for the Holidays (Concord & 9th)
• other - Big Shot, MISTI, lost shadow embossing glaze, heat tool, pink pearls, Holiday Talk metallic stickers (Tim Holtz), picket fence distress paint, fan paintbrush, craft foam, Dimensionals

The Card Concept Challenge - Peace on Earth

Hi all and welcome back to another challenge with The Card Concept. For challenge #165 we're firmly in Christmas mode with a beautiful inspiration photo for you:

So many gorgeous things here to jump-start your creativity! I took the candles and greenery as my muses but also managed to sneak in a little tartan and some pinecones on my ornament-shaped mixed media card.

The greenery and flames have mica shimmer.

Materials used:

• card - watercolour, very vanilla, vellum, tartan designer series paper
• distress spray stains - rustic wilderness, mowed lawn, speckled egg
• distress oxide sprays - rustic wilderness, shabby shutters, peeled paint, speckled egg
• distress mica stains - flickering candle, Jack O'Lantern, bubbling cauldron, crooked broomstick
• distress oxide inks - vintage photo
• distress paint - picket fence
• Tim Holtz/Sizzix dies - mini holiday greens, candlelight colorize
• Stampin' Up dies - Peace and Joy bundle
• other - ornament die, Big Shot, blending brush, splat box, splat brush, Dimensionals, Idea-ology adornments - festive, gold cord
