Home is for Love

Well, the folks at Just Add Ink did it again ... their inspiration challenge this week is so gorgeous I simply could not resist making a card.

This pic is very much #decorgoals for me - I love, love, love this look. Unfortunately my thumb is any colour BUT green so I continually kill indoor plants, but I can rock fake greenery with the best of them! Lol.

For my card I used the brick, timber and greenery elements - as well as the colour scheme - in a little mixed media creation.

First I stencilled some brickwork onto watercolour card using grit paste and once it was dry, used oxide sprays and water to create my background. I scratched away tiny pieces of the grit paste to reveal the lighter colour underneath, giving it an aged look.

The letters for 'Home' were cut from some woodgrain card I had on hand already coloured, I simply outlined them with a darker brown (using distress crayon) to make them stand out. The greenery was also cut from some pre-prepped card I had on hand - very useful to have, so when you make a card you don't have to make every element from scratch. Then it was simply a matter of attaching everything. The darling little rosebuds add a nice pop of colour.

Materials used:
  • card - very vanilla, watercolour, early espresso, woodgrain
  • distress oxide spray/ink - antique linen, vintage photo
  • other - distress crayons, Funky Foliage dies (TH), Sidekick, paper flowers and rosebuds, brick stencil, distress grit paste, hot glue gun, heat tool, water spritzer, sponge dauber, Playful Alphabet dies (SU)

I'm really happy with my card! Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers
Kerry

Edited to add: Many thanks to the JAI team for the honour of choosing my card as Top Pick.
