Happy Australia Day

If you stretch your mind back twelve months you may remember my last Australia Day card, which featured the Aussie flag and a cute little gnome. A gnome convention is held nearby every year and as luck - and crafty fate - would have it, just yesterday I borrowed from my bestie a number of dies including ones for constructing a gnome house! I thought it was perfect for my Aussie Day card this year. Here tis:

I sponged the clouds on to white then ran that piece through the printer to get the sentiment (as I don't have a stamp that says this). Isn't the wee house adorable? There are a number of other dies in the set too but I decided to stop here! I would have added in a gnome but the proportions don't match the house AT ALL and I'm too anal to do it, lol.

Materials used:

• card - whisper white, real red, night of navy, granny apple green, very vanilla
• other - mini cloud stencil (MFT), blending brushes, gnome house dies, Big Shot, grass hill die, mounting tape, craft foam, tweezers, glue

If you're in Aussie, throw another prawn on the barbie for me and save me a slice of pav!

No Place Like Gnome

Every year, as part of the Australia Day celebrations, the Australian Gnome Convention is held just a few kilometres away from us. Now, admittedly, I've never been, but I do love gnomes and so I thought it might be fun to use a gnome on my Australia Day card this year.

This little guy sure looks like he's ready to have some fun, doesn't he, with his jazz hands? LOL. The 'celebrate' die from SU's SAB catalogue was absolutely perfect for my card.

Materials used:

• stamps - MFT You Gnome Me
• card - whisper white, real red
• other - Big Shot, MFT You Gnome Me dies, Dimensionals, Stampin' Blends, Copic markers, Celebrate You thinlits, clip art, computer and printer

Happy Vegemite Day

I actually made a card for it this year; I had an idea yesterday and got up early this morning to put my "masterpiece" together.

Hehehe, that emu is so darn cute! And happy. Go the green and gold!

We're off to my sister-in-law's place for a BBQ - naturally - and I'm told there will be pavlova - though as a Kiwi before I became an Aussie, there's a bone of contention over the origins of the humble pav!  If you're a Strine too, have a Happy Australia Day and if you're not - try to have a good day anyway!
