Vintage Roses

A dear friend lost her mother recently and naturally I wanted to make her a card. I incorporated a number of things I know she likes - black and white, purple, and roses. Here's my card:

Materials used:

  • stamps - Vintage Roses (Altenew), Baby Blossoms (SU), Wetlands (SU)
  • card - whisper white, Pop of Pink dsp
  • inks - Altenew
  • other - black satin ribbon, MISTI, Dimensionals

I also stamped a rose on the inside. Thanks for stopping by.

By Popular Request

This month in class we are dusting off our brayers and getting inky with some brayered backgrounds and silhouette stamps. Not only do they look fantastic, but they also act as enough of a focal feature on your card that you rarely need anything else.

Brayering is a lot of fun but it does take a bit of practise. I love the wonderful blending I can achieve when I just can't seem to get quite the same effect with sponging. If you're interested, I've got a short video tutorial on brayering over in the right hand sidebar - look for the heading Tutorials - that someone took when I was demonstrating at a Stampin' Up! event a couple of years ago.

For the first card I used pool party and blushing bride inks and a circle punch mask. I brayered from opposite ends of my whisper white paper and the middle third of the piece is overlapped inks. Doesn't it make an exquisite sunrise/sunset?

Materials used:
  • stamps - World of Dreams, Wetlands
  • card - pool party, basic black, whisper white
  • other - brayer, 1 1/4" circle punch, post-it note, stamp-a-ma-jig, Dimensionals

I've used masking again for the next card, this time to mask off an area to brayer in. I stamped first then laid the circle mask and a post-it along the bottom. The sentiment was done on the computer. Ink colours used were delightful dijon, cajun craze, cherry cobbler.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Landscape Silhouettes (Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps)
  • card - cajun craze, basic black, whisper white, delightful dijon
  • other - circle framelits, Big Shot, brayer, Dimensionals, post-it note, computer and printer, banner punch

And lastly a 'birdies on the wire' card. This time I brayered with daffodil delight, calypso coral and watermelon wonder.

Materials used:
  • stamps - none
  • card - Sahara sand, basic black, whisper white
  • other - bird punch, Dimensionals, hello honey thick bakers twine, brayer

Hope you like the brayered cards and are inspired to give it a go yourself. But be warned - once you get the hang of it, it's terribly addictive!

Thanks for calling in.

Water, Water, Everywhere!

This month's class cards involve plenty of water as well as watercolouring and sponging - two of my favourite crafting activities! Thankfully my ladies seem to enjoy them too - not that I give them much choice, lol!

Firstly we'll make this simple card using the gorgeous World Map stamp. I resisted buying this one for quite a while but now I don't know why I did, as I just love it. Great for masculine cards too.

Materials used:

  • stamps - World Map, Chalk Talk
  • card - crumb cake, early espresso, soft sky, watercolour
  • inks - crumb cake, soft sky, Timber Brown StazOn
  • other - aqua painter, Dimensionals, wide oval punch

Our second card is a case from Michelle Surette - just love these little birdies.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Wetlands
  • card - chocolate chip, soft sky, so saffron, whisper white
  • inks - soft sky, so saffron, hello honey, Timber Brown StazOn
  • other - sponges and sponge daubers, stripes embossing folder, Big Shot, burlap ribbon, Dimensionals

And our last card, this one inspired by a Teneale Williams creation that I've changed up a little.

Materials used:
  • stamps - You've Got This
  • card - smoky slate, watercolour, very vanilla, basic grey, blackberry bliss
  • inks - wild wasabi, blackberry bliss, crushed curry, Versamark
  • other - white embossing powder, heat tool, pearls, aqua painter, greetings thinlits, Big Shot, Dimensionals, sponge dauber, Sahara sand marker

That should keep them all busy! Thanks for stopping by and don't forget - if you like what you see, leave some comment love!

'For All The Men We've Loved Before'

Masculine cards are our focus in class this month and I've shamelessly cased cards from other talented crafters - no point in trying to improve on perfection, now is there?

Firstly a fun suit card made from Jackie Topa's great tutorial (click HERE for the link):

Materials used:
  • stamps - none
  • card - marina mist, basic black, marina mist patterned paper
  • other - marina mist satin ribbon, sticky dots
  • non SU - 25mm black satin ribbon, black buttons

The gorgeous set Wetlands is used for our second card, this one cased from LeeAnn Greff.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Wetlands
  • card - gumball green, midnight muse, whisper white, watercolour, basic black
  • other - dimensionals, sponge daubers

And last but by no means least a case of a Teneale Williams card that I have long admired.

Materials used:
  • stamps - The Open Sea, Word Play, MDS
  • card - crumb cake, very vanilla, cherry cobbler, midnight muse, early espresso
  • other - sponge daubers, dimensionals, square dies, Big Shot

Hopefully that will keep my lovely ladies stocked up on masculine cards for a while!

Thanks for dropping by.

August Class Cards

I have finally gotten around to photographing the cards we made in class this month. They featured either new product or a new technique for my ladies - or maybe both!

Firstly we made this simple stand-up card which features new stamp set Chalk Talk and matching dies. Not quite sure why they are called a "stand up" card - don't all cards stand up? lol! (Layout cased from Julie Davison)

Materials used:
  • stamps - Chalk Talk
  • card - strawberry slush, basic black, whisper white, in colour patterned paper
  • other - chalk talk dies, Big Shot, rhinestones, wide oval punch, square punch, dimensionals

We also made a masculine card which I cased from Christy Fulk with a couple of minor changes (this is the card I gave to DH for his birthday earlier this month).

Materials used:
  • stamps - Wetlands
  • card - soft suede, more mustard, watercolour, early espresso
  • other - aquapainter, square punch, antique brad, dimensionals

And our last card was this embossed beauty you have seen before. The ladies loved the feel of the sanded core'dinations card just as much as I do!

Thanks for stopping by.
