Bold is Beautiful

Today I'm playing along with the current Just Us Girls challenge.

For my card I used bold colours and a bold stamp for the sentiment. 

I die-cut the balloon border first, along with extras of the heart and small round balloons, and chose a palette of bold colours fresh enough to brighten anyone's day. That's mounted with foam onto my base and then it all received a liberal spritz with shimmer mist, so there's a lovely shine everywhere. My sentiment was stamped and cut before adding and the final touch was some glitter card stars. A very simple card that gives a bold wow!

Materials used:

• stamps - Your Day sentiments combo (Waffle Flower)
• dies - Balloon Frame (Waffle Flower)
• distress inks - picked raspberry, carved pumpkin, mustard seed, peacock feathers, wilted violet
• other - Big Shot, blending brushes, shimmer mist, MISTI, white gel pen, foam squares

Celebrate - Just Add Ink Challenge #703

This week's challenge with Just Add Ink is so versatile you'll want to jump right into your crafting supplies!

Pretty hard to resist, right? I chose balloons and bright colours for a celebration card suitable for a number of occasions - birthday, anniversary, job promotion, etc.

I began with stencilling the balloons using distress inks, two shades of each colour. Once that was done I die cut the stitched border then added the confetti and streamers using gold pigment ink - pigment ink sits over the top of dye ink easily. The gold has a lovely subtle sheen and certainly adds to the celebratory atmosphere! 

Materials used:

• card - basic white, brushed metallic gold, vellum, gorgeous grape
• distress inks - squeezed lemonade, mustard seed, salvaged patina, peacock feathers, kitsch flamingo, picked raspberry, wilted violet, villainous potion
• other - balloon/confetti/streamers stencil (stash), blending brushes, golden glitz pigment ink (Delicata), slimline stiched rectangle die, Big Shot, celebrate die

JAI #647 - Just Add a Sketch

Welcome to another challenge with Just Add Ink, where this week we're giving you a sketch to base your creations on.

I've made a simple birthday card with bright, cheerful colours.

I stencilled the background first, masking and doing all of one colour at a time. The balloons were inked using blending brushes while the confetti used mini blending tools for greater precision. I layered some strips of designer paper, stamped a sentiment (and inked up some white card to turn it pink because I didn't have any of the right colour, lol) and added some sequins - now we're ready to party!

• card - basic white, Bermuda bay, retired DSP
• SU inks - Bermuda bay, polished pink, daffodil delight, granny apple green, pumpkin pie
• other - balloon stencil, craft foam, blending brushes, mini glue dots, clear sequins, mini blending tools (Ranger), MISTI

I've taken inspiration from the rainbow colours, balloons and black/grey backgrounds and used an adorable new stamp set from SU to create a sweet birthday card.

Birthday KISS

Today I'm keeping it simple with another bright and cheerful card for you. I didn't need much in the way of embellishments when the background papers and die-cut balloons do all the work.

Materials used:

• stamps - Tiny Words Birthday (SSS)
• card - whisper white, melon mambo, daffodil delight, Bermuda bay, basic black, Sugar Shoppe paper (Doodlebug)
• other - balloon dies, Big Shot, stitched rectangle die, Dimensionals, mounting strip, craft foam, white gel pen, white embossing powder, heat tool

I guess with balloons being so environmentally unfriendly, we won't use them as much for celebrations, but at least these ones pose no threat to sea life or the supply of helium!
