The Card Concept #207 - Red, White and Blue

This month at The Card Concept we're challenging you to draw inspiration from our red, white and blue mood board:

I was inspired by the bold primary colours of red and blue to create a card for a young child, also incorporating the stars and stripes.

Materials used:
  • card - basic white, basic black, real red, starry sky, pink (Stampin' Up), striped paper (Etsy)
  • dies - Dancin' Birthday Panda & Dancin' Birthday Dragon, Smart Glasses (Spellbinders), Celebrate (Tim Holtz), Large Numbers (Stampin' Up)
  • other - Sidekick, Dimensionals, stars stencil, volume paste, palette knife, computer & printer

If you create anything inspired by our challenge we'd love to see it in our gallery. Visit the Card Concept blog to do so and to see more samples from my fellow design team members.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Out of this World

The current challenge at AAA Cards caught my eye this week.

I remembered that I had a spaceman die-cut image I'd made but never ended up using, so I searched through my stash and found it, thinking it would be perfect for this challenge. Thank goodness for hoarding all those 'I might use it one day' bits and bobs! 😉

The die-cut pieces were coloured using Copic markers and I added a little white panpastel to the astronaut's face mask to give the illusion of rounding. I love the planets as balloons but my fav is definitely the space suit, so adorable. My sentiment was done on the computer as I don't have a stamp set with this theme - something I probably need to remedy as my new grandson grows, lol. If this weren't a clean and simple card I would use SU's Stargazing DSP, but it makes a great backdrop instead!

Thanks for floating by (lol).

JAI#670 - Just Add Wildlife

I couldn't resist the chance for another play with the adorable African Animals set for this week's Just Add Ink challenge.

I decided to try out another two of Stampin' Up's new in-colours as I hadn't used them yet, so my card features wild wheat and pebbled path. I kept it simple because let's face it, little kids don't really care lol.

The background is sponged with a stencil to mimic the spots on the adorable baby giraffe.

Materials used:
  • stamps and dies - African Animals (CC Designs)
  • card - basic white, wild wheat, pebbled path, watercolour
  • SU inks - wild wheat, pebbled path, calypso coral
  • other - birthday circle die, safari stencil, blending brush, water brush, Big Shot, Dimensionals, in-colour dots

Thanks for calling in.

Cheers
