Aloha - Just Add Ink Challenge #759

Welcome to another Just Add Ink challenge, this week a Choose Two combo that gives a ton of possibilities:

I had so much fun making my card that I ended up making a second, both using all three options with a tropical twist.

The backgrounds are done as a whole piece then I used the blocks stencil to help place the stamps. I cut three layers of the blocks dies for some lovely frame dimension.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Postage Collage Tropical Sunset, Postage Collage Beach Days (Waffle Flower)
  • die & stencil - Postage Collage mini slimline blocks, Postage Collage blocks (Waffle Flower)
  • other dies - Smart Glasses (Spellbinders), Vault World Travel (Tim Holtz)
  • distress oxide inks - squeezed lemonade, saltwater taffy, salvaged patina, peacock feathers
  • other - blending brushes, MISTI, T10 Copic marker, Big Shot, white gel pen, craft foam, Dimensionals

Head to the Just Add Ink blog to see which options my team mates used on their creations.

Thanks for stopping by.

Let's Get Together - Just Add Ink Challenge #749

It's time for a choose two challenge with Just Add Ink and I just love our options this week!

I ended up with all three on my card.

I began with a piece of watercolour card which I sprayed with oxides, then stamped the coffee beans and stencilled splodges and coffee cup rings before adding some ink splatter. Next was more stencilling on opposite corners, this time with volume paste, and once that was dry I added my focal feature. The mini coffee 'posters' were distressed and inked around the edges. A few white splatters and sentiment were the finishing touches.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Coffee Cafe (Stampin' Up)
  • stencil, cup, cake, posters - Coffee & Chocolate collection (Stamperia)
  • distress products - oxide sprays in antique linen and saltwater taffy, distress ink gathered twigs, mini stencil splatters, picket fence paint
  • other - blending brush, Dimensionals, craft foam, stitched rectangle die, Big Shot, volume paste (Stamperia), heat tool, distressing tool, sponge dauber, paint brush
  • layout inspired by a Vicky Papaioannou art journal page

I do hope you'll be inspired to create and join us in our gallery. Thanks for dropping by.

It's time for a new challenge at Just Add Ink and this week we've a Choose Two option.

Patterned paper and pens were my picks for a fun festive card.

The looks on their faces is rather sassy, so I just had to go with an equally sassy sentiment, lol.

  • other - patterned paper (SU retired), MISTI, water brushes, Clean Color real brush markers (Kuretake), small pennant punch, Sahara sand marker (SU retired)

JAI #653 - Just Choose Two

This week at Just Add Ink we've a choose two option for you.

As my first grandchild is due in a couple of months, choosing baby and pastels was a no-brainer. When DD sent a pic of her first of many, many washes of baby clothes to come, I knew exactly the type of card I had to make, lol.

How adorable are those little onesies and the coveralls? I've been buying a few clothes for bubs of course and DD was quite insistent I get those with two-way zips - wish they'd had them when my girls were born! So much more practical than all those domes! 😉

Materials used:
  • stamps - retired SU
  • card - basic white, grey granite, pastel gingham (digital), soft sky (retired)
  • SU inks - petal pink, fresh freesia, pool party, lemon lolly, grey granite
  • other - slimline cloud stencil (MFT), blending brushes, craft foam, Dimensionals, craft foam, banner punch (retired), tumbled glass distress oxide ink, sewing machine and thread, green ink, baby clothes dies (MFT)

Why not head over to the JAI blog to see which 'two' my fellow team-mates chose for their projects - and hopefully you'll find something to inspire your own creativity.

Thanks for stopping by.

JAI #612 - Just Choose Two

At Just Add Ink this week our challenge is to...

I chose fur and clouds (though there is a bit of stitching tossed in there too, lol) for my card featuring the most lovable bear of them all.

Materials used:

  • stamps - Winnie the Pooh (Disney)
  • card - basic white, Tahitian tide
  • dies - stitched rectangle, cloud
  • other - Copic markers, Dimensionals, MISTI, blending brush, tumbled glass distress ink, white gel pen, craft foam, Big Shot

Check out the samples my fellow team mates have made to inspire you over at the Just Add Ink blog and, of course, we'd love you to play along with our challenge.

Thanks for coming by.

JAI #602 - Just Choose Two

This week at Just Add Ink we have our 'choose two' option and I was very excited as all the choices are some of my favourite crafty things to do!

In the end I incorporated all three on my mixed media card.

I stamped the image first with oxide ink and clear embossed it so I could do my ink smooshing afterwards. On my background I stencilled using crackle texture paste and the Metropolis stencil, which is a city map - look closely and you'll see the streets, blocks and roundabouts. Although the stamp set has some great sentiments in it, I couldn't resist using this word band and rubbed distress crayon into the etched writing to highlight it more. Lots of distressing and sponging of edges, along with the faux stitched border, give it a great shabby/grunge look.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Theories (Tim Holtz)
  • card - early espresso, watercolour
  • distress oxide inks/sprays - speckled egg, weathered wood, vintage photo
  • other Tim Holtz products - word bands, Metropolis stencil, crackle texture paste, picket fence distress crayon
  • other - clear embossing powder, heat tool, MISTI, linen thread, craft foam, sponge dauber, stitched rectangle die, Big Shot, early espresso marker, ruler

Be sure to check out what my fellow team-mates have made to inspire you and, as always, we'd love you to join the challenge with us.

Thanks for calling in.

JAI #592 - Just Choose Two

Hi there! I hope you're excited to see what the new challenge is all about over at Just Add Ink this week.

If you're a regular visitor here you'll know that texture and layers are right up my alley! But I didn't stop there for my offering - no, I went and included the third option as well. What can I say? Sometimes I'm an overachiever, lol.

I've used texture paste through a stencil and some woodgrain patterned paper for my 'texture' and 'patterned paper' elements, with 'layers' of ink on the background and of card for the frame (chipboard and patterned paper). Using patterned paper such as the woodgrain I've used here is a great way of adding 'faux' texture to your work if you don't have texture pastes or embossing folders.

Snarky cats are so irreverent and cheeky - I love how they make us laugh at ourselves, which is often just what we need to lighten our day.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Snarky Cats (Tim Holtz)
  • card - watercolour, chipboard, woodgrain patterned paper (Paper Rose), crumb cake (SU)
  • distress oxide inks/sprays - vintage photo, fossilized amber, spiced marmalade, salvaged patina, cracked pistachio
  • TH products - Decor frames Bigz die, splat box, distress texture paste (matte), bricked mini stencil, vintage photo archival ink
  • other - sponge daubers, Big Shot Switch, mounting tape, blending brush, Dimensionals, craft foam, spatula

We'd love you to choose two elements from our challenge and share your creation in our gallery. There's more samples to inspire you over at the JAI blog, so hightail it over there to see for yourself!

Thanks for dropping by.
