Owl Over It

My good mate Rob is having a birthday soon and as she always makes me the most amazing cards I really felt the pressure! After churning a few different ideas over in my head I finally decided to go with a pun and some owls!

Here's my creation:

And on the inside:

Ha ha. I think she'll like it as she knows how nutty my sense of humour can be!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Crazy for Cupcakes
  • card - island indigo, whisper white, crumb cake, calypso coral, basic black, Sweet Shop dsp, Attic Boutique dsp,
  • other - owl punch, dimensionals, 35mm circle punch, scallop oval punch, computer and printer

My gift for her is another example of my whacked sense of humour. I have been raving for years about the gorgeous macarons we get in Melbourne when we are visiting DD20 and when DD came home for these holidays, I got her to bring some so Rob could finally taste them. Of course I was then blamed for making her addicted to something else! LOL. So my gift for her is some macarons - bath bombs that is! They look soooooo like the real thing and they are so cleverly done - the "icing" in between the biscuits is actually individually wrapped soap!

Hopefully I'll survive handing these over and be back soon with more cards!

Thanks for dropping by.

Cheers

Great Excitement

Well, we've got great excitement happening in our house at the moment for two reasons:
  1. DD is excited because today is her birthday and she is now DD13! Yes, my baby is officially a teenager - which is exciting and sad for me at the same time. But I am so proud of the young lady she is becoming and love spending time with her - she seems to have inherited a rather warped sense of humour from somewhere (can't imagine where/who!!!! :P) and we have tons of laughs together.
  2. I am excited because I have a new craft room! Up until now I was squished on a small desk in a corner of my bedroom and stuff has been overflowing every which way I look (new stamps, papers etc seem to magically appear!), so I have now moved in to a craft room! After a very fun trip to IKEA (gotta love it!) and hours spent with my wonderful SIL helping assemble bookcases, I have started moving "schtuff" in! Once I am more settled in there I will get some photos up here for you to see my new slice of heaven!
So, naturally, these two events converged in that I needed to "christen" my new craft room by making a card - and had need of a card for DD's birthday! What could be more perfect?

I found some great wrapping paper that has brightly coloured balloons all over it and also some fab take out boxes (for goodie bags) also covered in bright balloons ... so naturally I have used those gorgeous balloons from Crazy for Cupcakes (one of those sets that magically appeared, LOL!) and some bright, cheerful colours. Here tis:

Unfortunately the night I had the crystal effects drying was a cold one ... so cold that it has cracked the CE!!! Luckily DD understood. The sentiment stamp from PTI expressed my feelings perfectly ...

Thanks for dropping in.

If You Find My Mojo ...

... please encourage it nicely to come back!!!

I was busy earlier in the week making a few things for DD No.1's upcoming birthday (more on that Wednesday) and then yesterday had to sit down and create some cards for next Tuesday's class. Well, somewheres in between my mojo wandered off and got lost and I had a terrible time trying to come up with something I am happy with. I'm still 50/50 on these cards but unless a thunderbolt of inspiration hits me between now and Monday, my Lana ladies will be stuck with them!

I am still endeavouring to use up some of my supplies of retired stuff and these bright and breezy papers appealed to me at the time. I had borrowed the Crazy for Cupcakes set and decided to use that for a range of birthday cards and ... well, if you could see the overflowing state of my rubbish bin, you would have an idea of the angst that went on here! Just as well DD No. 2 was at school!!! LOL

So here they are, my three bright and breezy birthday cards:

All the images are stamped on watercolour paper and coloured with inks and markers. Crystal effects gave them some gloss and dimension as well as hiding a multitude of sins with the colouring! I do see one, however, that needs a couple more corrections ....

Materials used:

  • stamps - Crazy for Cupcakes, Party This Way, Sweet Little Sentiments
  • card - taken with teal, daffodil delight, old olive, rose red, watercolour paper, DSP from retired scrapbooking kit (forgotten the name)
  • other - large oval and scallop oval punches, rose red and old olive ribbon, dimensionals, dazzling diamonds

Thanks for dropping in.
