I think the folks at Festive Friday Challenges read my mind ... 

It's not long now until my SIL's birthday and I had decided to make him a music themed card as he not only plays multiple instruments, but also has an extensive vinyl record collection. Then I saw the current FF challenge ...

How perfect is that? I 'shopped my stash' for bits and pieces to create my card.

As you can see, from the inspo list I've used black, white, musical note, stripes, musical themed sentiment and vinyl record. 

Materials used:

• stamps/dies - Vinyl Style (Altenew)
• other dies - music notes and stave (stash)
• other - mini wheel stencil (Tim Holtz), blending brush, Dimensionals, Sidekick, craft foam

JAI #655 - Just Add Music

Welcome to another challenge with Just Add Ink. This week we're inviting you to ...

I've made an art journal page for my project. I have no skill with musical instruments but I have always loved singing and listening to songs, since way back in my intermediate school days (only a fellow kiwi will understand that reference, lol). When I looked up quotes related to music, the one I've used here (from Hans Christian Andersen) really resonated. 

I stencilled with both ink (music) and texture paste (words) on my page, also sponging the edges. Each piece of designer paper was distressed and sponged and all the ephemera pieces were sponged to match. Once all the layers were in place I splattered with both white and gold/brass paints and you might be able to see in the photo below that the cello, book it's sitting on and music book beside it also have hints of gold. 

Materials used:

• card - copper clay (SU), Vintage Library collection (Stamperia), A5 stone paper art journal (Stamperia)
• Other - Vintage Library ephemera (Stamperia), vintage photo distress oxide ink, distressing tool, tarnished brass and picket fence distress paints, Dimensionals, craft foam, blending foam, computer and printer, Book stencil (Stamperia), Concerto stencil (Tim Holtz), volume paste (Stamperia), paintbrush

Things with Wings

I decided to join in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week with the theme Things with Wings and had a blast creating this mixed media card.

Materials used:

• card - very vanilla, basic white, early espresso, watercolour, Essentials (The Junk Journal Studio)
• distress/oxide inks/sprays - uncharted mariner, rusty hinge, vintage photo
• other Tim Holtz products - Silhouette Birds die, Field Notes ephemera, Clippings stickers, distress paint antique linen, mummy cloth, Sidekick, distress watercolour pencils
• other - branch die, small rhinestone, sponge daubers, paint brush, craft foam, Dimensionals, crimper

I was lovely to get my grunge on a little bit with plenty of distressing, sponging and splattering, lol.
