Blue on Blue

I've been having a lot of fun with my brayers recently as I am doing a demonstration on that technique shortly (more on that later) and I've been inspired by all the triple layer cards around at the moment. I only wanted to use two layers and still align the stamping, and I thought "why not brayer on my second layer?"

So here is the result of all that thinking!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Just Believe, Field Flowers
  • card - bashful blue, basic black, whisper white
  • inks - bashful blue, marina mist, night of navy, black StazOn
  • other - brayer, dimensionals, basic black satin ribbon

Thanks for stopping by.

Anchors and Prawns

A masculine card for you today as DD20's boyfriend is celebrating his birthday tomorrow. Apparently he likes boats, so The Open Sea was the perfect set to use.

Here tis:

Love all the bits in this set that can be used as background interest and the compass or anchor are perfect embellishments. DD loves my sponged clouds, so hopefully DDB will too but they don't show up well in my photos - sorry about that.

Happy birthday Pete!

Materials used:

  • stamps - The Open Sea
  • card - not quite navy, early espresso, very vanilla
  • other - early espresso bakers twine, dimensionals, sponge daubers, non SU die

Thanks for stopping by.

Merry and Bright

Well, it's July and you know what that means - time to start up Christmas card stamp-a-stack classes! Yes, that's right, Christmas cards! Each month we make 10 cards, 5 each of two designs. For the first class I've adapted gorgeous cards from two talented stampers to make them a little more stamp-a-stack friendly; here they are:

(cased from Teneale Williams)

Materials used:
  • stamps - Dasher, En Francais, Four the Holidays
  • card - marina mist, whisper white, basic black
  • other - post it notes, sponge, dimensionals, modern label punch, basic black marker

(cased from Kirsty Brown)

Materials used:
  • stamps - Merry and Type, Creative Elements
  • card - soft suede, real red, whisper white
  • other - stripes E/F, scallop trim border punch, real red satin ribbon, soft suede dsp, Stocking Accents die, real red marker, dimensionals, decorative label punch, soft suede polka dot grosgrain ribbon (retired)

Makes me feel all Christmassy - I have even bought my first Christmas present! Wow, that's a record for me! LOL.

Thanks for stopping by.

Owl Over It

My good mate Rob is having a birthday soon and as she always makes me the most amazing cards I really felt the pressure! After churning a few different ideas over in my head I finally decided to go with a pun and some owls!

Here's my creation:

And on the inside:

Ha ha. I think she'll like it as she knows how nutty my sense of humour can be!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Crazy for Cupcakes
  • card - island indigo, whisper white, crumb cake, calypso coral, basic black, Sweet Shop dsp, Attic Boutique dsp,
  • other - owl punch, dimensionals, 35mm circle punch, scallop oval punch, computer and printer

My gift for her is another example of my whacked sense of humour. I have been raving for years about the gorgeous macarons we get in Melbourne when we are visiting DD20 and when DD came home for these holidays, I got her to bring some so Rob could finally taste them. Of course I was then blamed for making her addicted to something else! LOL. So my gift for her is some macarons - bath bombs that is! They look soooooo like the real thing and they are so cleverly done - the "icing" in between the biscuits is actually individually wrapped soap!

Hopefully I'll survive handing these over and be back soon with more cards!

Thanks for dropping by.

Cheers

Four Ways of Style

In class this week we are making three quite different cards using the same stamp set and the one I picked is Elements of Style. It is such a versatile set and there are so many options other than the most obvious one of colouring in the flowers and making that the main focus of your card.

Another overcast day, so photos not the greatest I'm afraid.

First off a fairly simple card that has a burst of colour and is, I'm pretty sure, the first time I have used the bird stamp from this set. I cased this one from my upline Marelle.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Elements of Style, Word Play
  • card - crumb cake, very vanilla, chocolate chip, wild wasabi patterned paper
  • other - dimensionals, square lattice embossing folder, Big Shot

Secondly a soft, pretty card with EOS embossed in the background. Again cased (told you my mojo was absent!), this time from Tania

Materials used:
  • stamps - Elements of Style, Word Play
  • card - basic grey, pool party, whisper white textured
  • other - white embossing powder, heat tool, Big Shot, dimensionals
  • non SU - nestabilities die, Kaiser paper rose, Floral Punch rose leaf and embossing punch, Kaiser pearls

Our third project is a lovely vintage-style card. I used the matching Beau Chateau papers for this, but of course you could stamp the image if you didn't have the papers. (Inspired by a card seen but original artist unknown.)

Materials used:
  • stamps - Elements of Style,
  • card - marina mist, very vanilla, early espresso
  • other - decorative label punch, very vanilla seam binding, vintage brads, dimensionals
  • non SU - bow tying machine

And as a special bonus this month we're also making a cute little purse with the Petite Purse die - not long now until we'll know if it's coming in our new catalogue! Fingers crossed!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Elements of Style
  • card - basic black, daffodil delight
  • other - petite purse die, Big Shot, neutrals brads, sticky strip

Don't you just love this stamp set? I know I do.

Thanks for stopping by.

School Holidays At Last!

And I was absolutely determined to sit down and make some cards! Serious withdrawal!!! It seems like forever since I have been creative and my mojo has taken a bit of a beating with all the TAFE related work I've been doing, so it took a while to get anything I was happy with.

I had a play with some gorgeous Autumn tones and French Foliage, such a beautiful set.

Materials used:
  • stamps - French Foliage, Whimsical Words
  • card - cajun craze, whisper white, early espresso
  • inks - crumb cake, more mustard, cajun craze, pumpkin pie, cherry cobbler, early espresso
  • other - framelits labels dies, dimensionals, sponges

Then I was longing to do some watercolouring and try out a new stamp:

Materials used:
  • stamps - Penny Black
  • card - cherry cobbler, very vanilla, watercolour
  • other - adorning accents die, elegant bouquet embossing folder, nestabilities oval die, aquapainter

I also had a try at the Frosted Image Technique. Not entirely successful but acceptable for a first time. My sentiment was done on the computer as I don't have a suitable stamp.

Materials used:

  • stamps - Lovely as a Tree, Delicate Doilies
  • card - basic black, very vanilla, Mocha Morning dsp
  • other - clear embossing powder, heat tool, nestabilities die, Big Shot, computer and printer, dimensionals, black satin ribbon

Hopefully I'll be back with more soon.

Thanks for calling in.
