Dear Friend

It was my good mate Rob's birthday recently and although I rang her on the day, I haven't had the chance to give her her birthday card until today. I've used a combination of things I know she loves - black, vanilla, cherry cobbler and my Fabulous Florets stamp set.

Here's the front:

And on the inside I have carried through the shape and the flower:

Materials used:

• stamps - Occasional Greetings, Fabulous Florets, Perfect Punches, Vintage Labels 18 (Waltzingmouse Stamps)
• card - cherry cobbler, basic black, very vanilla, old olive, Love Letters DSP, Regals patterns stack
• other - Versamark, cherry cobbler embossing powder, dimensionals, Big Shot, basic black satin ribbon

Vintage Birthdays

Birthday cards are of course the most commonly needed kind, so I've been building up my supply and playing with some goodies that arrived from the US earlier in the week.

I've used some retired Purely Pomegranate satin ribbon for this one. PP is very close to Rose Red (the colour in the papers) and you know how I love big satin bows! The small rose on the sentiment panel is made using the scallop circle punch, similar to the roses in this post.

The same layout was used on my second card but this time I added in a punched border and some gorgeous Baja breeze seam binding. This is so soft and pliable, just lovely to work with. This time my sentiment panel is only one layer, but I've used my marker to add some colour.

For my third card I've cracked open my new Garden Green ink pad - can you believe that I have never bought this before, having been a demo for over 2 years?! Now that I've got it, I love it and can't understand what took me so long. The embellishment on the corner has been in my stash for a very long time and is, I think, just gorgeous.

Non SU items: adhesive rhinestones (Kaiser), Martha Stewart border punch, Melissa Francis embellishment

Simple Card

One of the challenges I remember seeing recently was to use neutrals plus one other colour. I think it was the SUO challenge - well, I can't enter that because I have used non SU papers, but I was still keen to try the combo.

Here I've teamed the simple elegance of black and white with the gorgeous lushness (is that a word? LOL!) of cherry cobbler to make a card that is quick and easy but still has plenty of Wow! factor. Well, I think so anyway; hope you agree - they just never look as good in a photo as they do IRL!

Here's a close up so you can see the shiny stripe on the black card and the richness of the satin ribbon. Gorgeous!

SU materials used:

• stamps - Perfect Punches
• card - basic black, whisper white
• ink - cherry cobbler, basic black
• other - dimensionals

Birthday Owl

It's an inspiration challenge over at Just Add Ink this week. The brief is to use the following picture as inspiration

and it can also be interpreted as Just Add A Bright Splash of Colour, so that's what I've done. My background is in neutral colours very vanilla and soft suede, and my splashes of colour are in rose red and pumpkin pie. I particularly wanted to use some of the luscious wide striped ribbon - luuuuuuurve big bows!

Felt So Good

I have a terrible pun for my header today! It's because I have used felt on my card and this line just popped into my head and I went with it! Sorry about that, LOL!

Anyways, this card was inspired by (a) seeing that Bec's Creatalicious challenge this month is pink, green and brown, (b) wanting to use Blushing Bride and (c) having bought this dark dusky pink felt. Here's my creation:

I used Bella Toile on the background, my Square Lattice embossing folder for the foreground piece and Perfect Punches set for the sentiment. The felt flower is made on my Big Shot with the Floral Fusion die and put together with this ginormous pearl brad I found at my local arts and crafts store, and the greenery is Pear Pizzazz made with the Little Leaves die. The brown is Early Espresso, which I didn't think I would like but am loving in spite of it's name!!! A very simple card with plenty of texture. Hope you like it.

New Stuff

NEW STUFF! I have been preparing cards for classes and having soooooooo much fun using new stamps and my new love - yup, you guessed it! - Cherry Cobbler.

The first card is a case from a gorgeous card by Lynn Pratt which I simplified. Crumb cake, cherry cobbler and always artichoke are the colours used and the stamp set is Just Believe.

GORJUS!

Next up I have used Bella Toile, a new background stamp that I have been totally in love with for over a year and am sooooooooooo glad it finally made it to our shores. I stamped it with - yes, you're right again! - cherry cobbler, then embossed it. The flowers are made from the new Flower Fusion die and there's touches of crumb cake again for accent. (Seriously, all this talk of cherry cobbler and crumb cake makes a person hungry!) The sentiment comes from Perfect Punches.

New, new, new and old.

Good morning! Just a quick post today as I have a list a mile long of things I have to get done today! Here's a bright and cheerful card using three new products and an old one.

The colours used are three of our new In Colours - peach parfait, concord crush and pear pizzazz. The sentiment is new set Perfect Punches and the pressies are from this year's (old) SAB set, Happy Moments. The punched edge uses the new scallop trim border punch and the DSP is peach parfait patterned paper. I added some matching embroidery cotton to tie my present bundle.

Bonsoir, mes amis! I have had tons of fun with a new stamp set called Artistic Etchings. 

Firstly, a scrapbook layout featuring some photos I took from the Eiffel Tower which were just perfect for this set.

The background design is a patchwork of four papers - two from the Newsprint DSP set and two I created myself with stamps, En Francais and Artisitic Etchings.

Then I got to thinking about how Paris is supposed to be the most romantic city in the world and how the Eiffel Tower would look in the sunset ... and that's how my next project evolved.

I used so saffron, tangerine tango and riding hood red in my brayering and ran a gathering thread down the middle of my taffeta ribbon to get this effect. Tres chic! Makes me think of the flouncy petticoats of the Folies Bergere!

For my next card I thought more laterally and looked at the monument as a unique and amazing piece of architecture, then acknowledged that AMAZING and UNIQUE are words we like to use to describe the special people in our lives too. So that's the theme of my card and the reason for the sentiment, which comes from Life Definitions. The layout and colours were inspired by a card by Jan Tink.

Next is a masculine birthday card I've dubbed "King for a day", LOL! Again, I have used some of the Newsprint DSP but also used the stamps in Artistic Etchings to create my own background paper. This time I've teamed them up with a stamp from Perfect Punches, a new set that has 6 stamps which all fit SU punches. Pacific Point, Very Vanilla and Basic Black are the colours used.

Now a much more Clean and Simple style and I've used Rich Razzleberry with So Saffron and Whisper White. The sentiment comes from the Friendly Words jumbo wheel and the embossed background is the new Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder - isn't it divine? It suits this vintage style set really well.

And last but not least, I was inspired by an idea from "stamperdog" at SCS to use the background stamps to become Christmas baubles. The top part (that pesky metal part that always breaks on our baubles!) is created from the crown stamp! I've used Elegant Eggplant and Certainly Celery with gold embossing and must offer my apologies for using a retiring stamp (weathered background), but nothing else suited the card so well! The sentiment is from Occasional Greetings.
