Inside the Pages

This week's theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is art journal and as I'd been itching to create a new layout, I sat down this morning and played in my A5 stone paper journal. I love the stone paper as you don't have to prep the pages with gesso before using paints and inks etc.

I applied two blue paints over my page using a baby wipe then decorated the top and bottom edges with a flourish stencil and some volume paste. Once my images were sponged and adhered, I gave everything a coat of gel medium, which when dry allowed me to create shading with big brush markers. Once the sentiment went on, I added splatters in both white paint and brown ink and gave some sponging to the edges.

Materials used:
  • Stamperia products - A5 stone paper art journal, Vintage Library die cuts and paper, powder blue and blue aviation Allegro paints, volume paste
  • other - vintage photo archival and oxide inks (Ranger), swirl flourish stencil (Kaisercraft), palette knife, baby wipes, computer and printer, Big Brush Markers (Faber-Castell), picket fence distress paint, paintbrush, sponge daubers

Hope you check out all the other art journal pages over at the Simon challenge blog and thanks for stopping by.

Cheers
Kerry

Edited to add: Picked by Maura for the Designer's Spotlight. Thank you so much!

The Card Concept Challenge - Fall Fun

Welcome back. I hope you're in the mood for a challenge! Over at The Card Concept we have this gorgeous picture to get your creative juices flowing:

So many wonderful images for inspiration! I decided to use the apples and colours as themes for my clean and simple card.

Doesn't that look delicious? I've never had an apple dipped in caramel but I certainly loved toffee apples as a child, especially the tartness of the apple after all that sweetness! And the crunch! Nom, nom, nom...

Materials used:
  • stamps - Caramel Apple Bundle Girl (Stamping Bella), Autumn Leaves (Poppystamps)
  • card - basic white
  • Copic markers
    • E000,E00,E09,E11,EE31,E33,E35,E37,E40
    • G24,G28,G43
    • R29,R39,R89
    • YR21,YR23,YR24
  • other - stitched rectangle die, Big Shot, MISTI, white gel pen, craft foam

Why not pop over to the Card Concept blog to see the gorgeous cards my fellow team members have created to inspire you? And hopefully you'll even join in the challenge!

Thanks for dropping by.

Hello, Hi, Hey

Hello, hi, hey, how's it going? If you're in lockdown too - I feel for you. If not - good on you, stay safe.

Meanwhile, it's time for another challenge over at Just Add Ink and it's one more I couldn't resist.

So after my allowed one visit per day to the shops, I sat me down to make a card:

(not a terribly great photo, sorry - weather not conducive today)

I coloured the birds to resemble crimson rosellas, a type of native parrot who visit my backyard quite regularly.

This card had a few different parts to it - cutting the frames (they're doubled up for extra depth), sponging the clouds (so easy with a stencil and oxide ink), colouring the birds and branches (Copic markers) and then embossing the greetings. I listen to my favourite music playlist while I work - and, admittedly, usually sing along too. Am I alone in that? Come on, admit it! Yeah, I didn't think so 😉.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Some Birdie Loves You (Clearly Besotted)
  • card - basic white, basic black
  • other - Big Shot, Copic markers, mini cloud stencil (MFT),  decor frames die (Tim Holtz/Sizzix), blending brush, white embossing powder, heat tool, Dimensionals, clear sequins, mini glue dots, tumbled glass distress oxide ink

Hope you're enjoying some creative time too. Thanks for calling in.

Cheers
