Not a Card - Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge

Welcome! Once again I'm joining in with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge team for some creative fun.

This week we are being challenged to make something that is NOT A CARD

For my project I made tags (inspired by Alison Bomber) using Tim Holtz Moon Mask Stencils and distress inks together with Tiny Text and Winter Watercolor 2 stamp sets.

Do head over to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog to see what the design team have come up with to inspire you.

Simon Says Stamp are generously giving away a $25 voucher to shop at the Simon Says Stamp Store - all you have to do is take out your crafting supplies, make something following this week's prompt, and link up at the bottom of the Challenge Blog post. You can join up to 5 times, giving you 5 chances to win! All winners are chosen randomly, so everyone has an equal chance.

Feel free to leave me some comment love and thanks for stopping by! I hope to see you back next Monday.

Cheers

I'm Not Old, I'm Vintage

More Christmas fun today with some vintage-look tags. I wanted to use the Christmas Greetings thinlit dies in an antique style while still keeping a simple design that is not too busy, so here is what I came up with.

For this one I stamped the music notes on very vanilla using tip top taupe ink; all the edges are also sponged with taupe. The lace and ribbon were added next and then it was all adhered to a taupe tag. The poinsettia was cut in vanilla also, with pearls for the centre and real red accents. Vanilla thick bakers twine was used for the tie.

Here I've used some gorgeous holly papers (non SU) and added a piece of vellum over the top for my die cut to sit on. The holly leaves are actually the poinsettia die again (in always artichoke) and the berry is a 1/2" circle punch, shaped and curled with a dimensional underneath.

Vellum layer over paper again for this one, and I've used an extra layer of gold glitter card on the bauble.

Each tag has a plain co-ordinating colour on the reverse side for the To, From part to be written. I know a few of my ladies are going to adore these, so it will be lots of fun making them in class. Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Tags and Bows

Today is my last class for the year and we will be making some Christmas tags and gift bows.

Here is the set of tags we'll make:

We'll be making a gift bow angel:

Materials used:
  • card - whisper white, gold glimmer, blush blossom
  • other - various circle punches, itty bitty punch, rhinestone, Big Shot, gift bow die, vintage wallpaper E/F, sponge dauber, word window punch, white taffeta ribbon, black marker, white bakers twine

We will also look at a variety of bows for gift giving:

And something else you can make with the gift bow die - though we won't make one in class - is this cheerful little chap:

Materials used:
  • card - very vanilla, naturals ivory, basic black, pumpkin pie
  • punches - 2 1/2" circle, 1 3/4" circle, owl
  • other - gift bow die, Big Shot, cherry cobbler stitched edge grosgrain ribbon, frosted finishes embellishment, white gel pen, old olive grosgrain ribbon, sticky strip
  • non SU - hot glue gun, twigs

I found this on Pinterest but unfortunately the instructional video for making it was full of errors and wrong instructions, so my first one ended up in the bin and I had to muddle through to work things out myself - not my strongest suit! However, it all came right in the end - well, kinda alright. He's a bit rough and ready, but not to worry!

Thanks for calling in today. Hopefully I'll be back soon with some Christmas craft for home. We're having a Steampunk theme this year, so that is going to be a challenge!

Cheers
