We're All Crazy

The image from the current Inspired by challenge got me thinking...

It brought back memories of all the teapots, cups and saucers we gathered quite a few years back now, when my younger daughter had an Alice in Wonderland themed birthday tea. And that memory gave germ to the following card:

The Mad Hatter's hair was made with flower dies and, as usual, everything was cut from white and coloured with inks.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Love You a Latte (Lawn Fawn)
  • dies - Papercut Cafe, Tailored (both Tim Holtz), flowers from stash
  • distress inks - mowed lawn, evergreen bough, crushed olive, spun sugar, kitsch flamingo, picked raspberry, scattered straw, fossilized amber
  • other - blending brushes, Sidekick, Dimensionals, Small Talk Snarky sticker book (Tim Holtz)
  • idea inspired by an Emma Williams make

It was fun to make a quirky card! Hope it gives you a chuckle, and thanks for calling in.

Cheers

JAI #651 - Just Add Inspiration

Welcome to another Just Add Ink challenge. This week we have a gorgeous inspiration picture to work from.

Inspiration for my mixed media easel card came from the colours, tea theme and pink hearts.

The tea bags are real; I cut them at the fold, emptied out the tea as best I could, then glued them back together before adding a touch of colour and replacing the original tags (they were red and just didn't go, lol!). The background is smooshed oxide inks and a tiny hint of stamped hearts, with die-cut hearts on the sentiment strip.

Materials used:

  • stamps - Coffee & Friends (Echo Park), Country Bouquet (Stampin' Up)
  • card - watercolour, basic white, pecan pie
  • distress/oxide inks - milled lavender, spun sugar, victorian velvet, tea dye
  • other - Papercut Cafe dies (Tim Holtz), Dimensionals, sponge daubers, water spritzer, heat tool, Big Shot, sponge applicators, mini MISTI, tea bags, pecan pie ink (SU), heart and tea bag label dies (stash)

Do check out the beautiful projects my fellow team mates have made by following this link to the JAI blog. And if you're inspired to create, we'd love to see your work in our gallery.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Tea Party Time!

With the advent of Spring (yay!) I thought it would be fun to have a Tea Party theme for our projects this month.

First on our menu is this card using the Tea Party stamp set, cased from Lee Conrey with only a couple of minor changes.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Tea Party
  • card - basic black, very vanilla, Modern Medley dsp
  • other - oval dies, Big Shot, strawberry slush ruffled ribbon, beautifully baroque embossing folder, dimensionals, pearls. blender pen

Also on our tea party menu is a cupcake shop awning card. I love the gelato-shades of our new in colours - they go so well with this type of card!

Materials used:
  • stamps - none
  • card - pistachio pudding, crisp cantaloupe, strawberry slush, whisper white, Sahara sand
  • other - word window punch, scallop border punch, dimensionals, Sahara sand marker, sponge dauber, scallop oval punch, large oval punch, Big Shot
  • non SU - Cottage Cutz tiered cupcake die, brick wall embossing folder

And we'll be making this cute coffee card which was inspired by Linda Aarhus.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Perfect Blend
  • card - baked brown sugar, whisper white, in colours patterned paper, soft suede
  • other - finishing touches edgelit, Big Shot, dimensionals, champagne glass glitter, Tombow multi glue, ticket duo punch, sponge dauber, soft suede marker, owl punch, champagne glitter card, ruler

I have some surprises in store for my ladies when they arrive in class and I asked them to wear something special, so I'll be back soon with photos of those.

Thanks for dropping by.

Cheers
