Birdie Birthday

I was in the mood for some colouring today and as the weather is grey and miserable, decided to go with bright colours and explore this year's new Stampin' Up in colours, which I've barely used. Here's the card I ended up with:

I started with my piece of orchid oasis card, sponging some matching ink around the sides to give me a lighter centre, then splattering with white paint. My birdies and leaves were coloured with Stampin' Blends before everything was fussy cut and assembled on to a neutral base to help the colours pop.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Some Birdie Loves You (Clearly Besotted), Tiny Words Birthday (Simon Says Stamp)
  • card - crumb cake, basic white, orchid oasis
  • Stampin Blends - daffodil delight, mango melody, sweet sorbet, parakeet party
  • other - E13 Copic marker, picket fence distress paint, paintbrush, craft foam, Dimensionals, white embossing powder, heat tool, MISTI, in colour matte decorative dots, blending brush, orchid oasis ink

Now that's definitely more cheerful than the thunderstorms outside!

Thanks for calling in.

Cheers

Hello, Hi, Hey

Hello, hi, hey, how's it going? If you're in lockdown too - I feel for you. If not - good on you, stay safe.

Meanwhile, it's time for another challenge over at Just Add Ink and it's one more I couldn't resist.

So after my allowed one visit per day to the shops, I sat me down to make a card:

(not a terribly great photo, sorry - weather not conducive today)

I coloured the birds to resemble crimson rosellas, a type of native parrot who visit my backyard quite regularly.

This card had a few different parts to it - cutting the frames (they're doubled up for extra depth), sponging the clouds (so easy with a stencil and oxide ink), colouring the birds and branches (Copic markers) and then embossing the greetings. I listen to my favourite music playlist while I work - and, admittedly, usually sing along too. Am I alone in that? Come on, admit it! Yeah, I didn't think so 😉.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Some Birdie Loves You (Clearly Besotted)
  • card - basic white, basic black
  • other - Big Shot, Copic markers, mini cloud stencil (MFT),  decor frames die (Tim Holtz/Sizzix), blending brush, white embossing powder, heat tool, Dimensionals, clear sequins, mini glue dots, tumbled glass distress oxide ink

Hope you're enjoying some creative time too. Thanks for calling in.

Cheers

Feathered Friends

I think the brand of stamp I've used for today's card is a wonderful coincidence because I do seem to be quite besotted with 'Things with Wings' this week, lol. Here's another card featuring some feathered friends.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Some Birdie Loves You (Clearly Besotted), Itty Bitty Greetings
  • card - pool party, whisper white
  • Altenew inks - mountain mist, volcano lake, lagoon
  • other - Stampin' Blends, Copic Markers, Dimensionals, blending brushes, craft foam, masking tape

For the background I masked off the outside edges with purple tape, then blended three Altenew inks in an ombre effect. The birds were coloured with a combination of Copic and Stampin' Up markers and fussy cut before being attached with Dimensionals. A clean and simple card but I love it. Pool party is one of my all-time favourite SU colours.

I hope you're not sick of 'wings' yet - just in case I come up with any more before the week of the challenge is over, lol.

Thanks for calling in. Stay safe.

Cheers

Toucan Do It

Day 5 of the hostage situation...

How are you? I hope you have something pleasant planned for your day or, if you're reading this at night, that you've done things you enjoy.

The silver lining to this pandemic cloud is the amazing preparedness of we crafters! While others may have previously scoffed at our craft-apocalypse tendencies, we can finally say...

ROFLOL!!! Mind you, I'm just grateful that there was no craft store within a 30km radius for me to feel bereft with non-essential businesses closing down; at least I can always keep shopping online! (Yes, I can say that safely with DH in the other hemisphere, lol.)

So, today I made a simple but sweet card. There's a little bit of masking and a smidge of colouring in (which you know I love) but that's really all there is to it (okay, and some fussy cutting too because I didn't buy the matching dies). The twine and sequins are a Sale-a-bration freebie, so score! Lol.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Some Birdie Loves You (Clearly Besotted)
  • card - whisper white, Bermuda bay, basic black, calypso coral, Butterfly Gala DSP
  • other - Stampin Blends, Big Shot, stitched rectangle die, post-it notes, mini Dimensionals, metallic baker's twine and sequins combo (SAB), glue, craft foam

Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe and well.

Cheers
