Bee My Honey(comb)

I am simply LOVING the honeycomb embossing folder - just one of the many gorgeous new goodies coming in the Seasonal Catalogue next month - and have been making a few cards to show its versatility.

First up a literal use (ie) using it actually as a honeycomb!

 Materials used:
  • stamps - Just Buzzing By (retired)
  • card - pool party, whisper white, daffodil delight and calypso coral patterned papers, pool party core'dinations card
  • other - windows framelit, Big Shot, dimensionals, honeycomb E/F, sanding block, pool party button (SAB), calypso coral ribbon (last year's SAB), paper doily, blender pen, markers

Next a more general use as a background for a simple but sweet birthday card.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Perfect Punches
  • card - island indigo, whisper white, Sycamore St dsp (SAB), tangerine tango, Summer starfruit
  • other - honeycomb E/F, Big Shot, square punch, wide oval punch, decorative label punch, itty bitty punch, pearl, dimensionals

And lastly a patchwork-style card.

Materials used:
  • Word Play
  • card - pink pirouette, whisper white, riding hood red, Twitterpated dsp
  • other - triple heart punch, button, bakers twine, dimensionals, Baja breeze pleated ribbon (retired), sponge dauber
  • non SU - nestabilities die

Now you can see why I love this folder so much! Thanks for calling in - and I hope you are coping with the heat, if you're here in Aus.

Cheers

Bright and Cheery

It's been wet and gloomy day all week so far, so thank goodness we managed to enjoy a couple of days of sunshine over the weekend. I made sure I got out and soaked up some Vitamin D. So much for summer! Sigh!

In a brief patch of slightly lighter sky this morning I rushed out to take photos - and managed to drop this card onto the wet grass - face down, of course! So please excuse a couple of wet patches!

On Monday I found some gingham ribbon that I was sure would be a perfect match for island indigo and I was right! So I set to and made a bright and cheery birthday card to chase away the gloomies. I gotta say that even though this card is a departure from my usual style (not necessarily a bad thing, lol!) I absolutely LOVE it!

I could, of course, just have used SU's indigo ruffled ribbon but I thought the gingham was stinkin' cute!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Best of Everything, Up Up and Away
  • card - island indigo, whisper white
  • inks - island indigo, calypso coral, lucky limeade, pool party
  • other - calypso coral brad, non SU gingham ribbon (Spotlight), dimensionals

I'm still loving the indigo/coral combination and would you believe I did not use the stamp-a-ma-jig to place the birdie on the branch? Just eyeballed it - gotta love clear mount stamps!

Thanks for dropping in.

Cruising

I love cruise control.

In fact, on our 10 hour journey home from Melbourne yesterday, cruise control was my BFF.

Mind you, I wish I had $1 for every kamikaze insect that gave up its life to attack my windscreen - would cover the cost of petrol for the round trip, I reckon, lol!!!

We had a successful trip and managed to find DD19 a great flat to live in with an excellent location and facilities, so she is all excited about moving in at the end of Feb when uni starts. The apartment complex boasts two swimming pools (one indoor, one outdoor), a tennis court, BBQ area and gymnasium - I think maybe I should move down there too!!!

However it sure is nice to be home and I can't wait to get into my craft stuff, but for now will show you a card I made before we went away.

Over at Splitcoaststampers you can get tons of inspiration for great cards and it is usually my first port of call when I get a new stamp set. Today's card is a case of one by "marmie43gs" - she used bright primary colours but I have changed mine for a more feminine look with pinks and purples.

Up, Up and Away is a set you might overlook but I think it's great for masculine cards of all ages and as you can see here, looks terrific in girly colours too - good for teens, I reckon!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Up, Up and Away
  • card - Cheerful Treat DSP (hostess), concord crush, bashful blue, whisper white, melon mambo, wisteria wonder
  • punches - small tag, large tag, cupcake
  • other - dimensionals, melon mambo grosgrain ribbon, white bakers twine, stripes EF, Big Shot, sponge dauber

Thanks for stopping by today.

A Long Time Coming

It has been quite a while since I made a card for a challenge, but this week the colours over at Just Add Ink really appealed and I decided I'd have a go. Here's the combo:

I love the new in colours and the opportunity to use them was one I couldn't pass up! I got out my Domestic Goddess papers for inspiration as they have pool party, calypso coral and whisper white. Once I saw the paper with the little flowers on, an idea came to mind and so my card was born.

Here tis:

DD19 (home for a few days from uni) saw it and said she absolutely loves it - so I'm thinking it might end up down in Melbourne. Very fitting sentiment for a uni student too ....

Materials used:
  • stamps - Up, Up and Away
  • card - crumb cake, calypso coral, whisper white, Domestic Goddess DSP
  • ink - pool party, calypso coral, basic black
  • other - cupcake punch, dimensionals, 1 3/4" circle punch

I hope you can see it OK - for quite apart from it being a cold, wet and dark day, I spent last night at the hospital with DD13 and got no sleep whatsoever, so my eyes aren't exactly reliable right now! And daylight savings started this morning (first time I've ever been awake at 2 am to see it change to 3 am!) so I've lost an hour as well! Off to bed with me for a while before I need to check on DD again.

Thanks for calling in.
