Congrats Songbirds

Over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge their theme this week is Stencil Fun, plus they're showcasing PinkFresh Studios. As luck would have it, I have some PinkFresh stencils I haven't used in a while, although it's not mandatory to use their products.

I pulled out the beautiful Songbirds on Branches collection - stamp, stencils and die - and was in the mood for some autumn colours. Yes, I know it's actually spring here, but seriously, with the weather we're having this week it might as well be autumn again!

I stamped in copper ink and clear embossed before using oxide inks with my stencils. Once dry and die-cut, it was a matter of moving the bits around until I was happy with the arrangement. I did some dry embossing on the background for a bit of added interest and die-cut a sentiment in copper foil and vellum.

Materials used:
  • stamp/stencil/die - Songbirds on Branches (PinkFresh Studios)
  • card - copper clay, very vanilla, copper foil, vellum (Stampin' Up), watercolour
  • distress oxide inks - fired brick, spiced marmalade, aged mahogany, dried marigold, fossilized amber, rusty hinge
  • other - Scripty embossing folder (SU), Big Shot, MISTI, blending brushes, Dimensionals, foam strips, double stitched rectangle die, Congrats shadow die

Layering stencils are so fun to work with and take a lot of effort out of colouring images, lol. What's not to like?

This is my second post today so scroll down for another challenge card and thanks for dropping in.

JAI #620 - Just Add Inspiration

We've a stunning inspiration pic for you this week at Just Add Ink.

That glorious rich blue with a hint of turquoise immediately made me think of uncharted mariner, the latest distress ink colour, which in turn brought water to mind and that's how I ended up with an aquatic themed card!

I just adore the supremely unimpressed expressions on the faces of these fish!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Oddball Fish (Stamping Bella)
  • card - basic white, Idea-ology Kraftstock Stack - Warm
  • distress/oxide inks - uncharted mariner
  • Copic markers - Y11,Y15,Y19,B00,B000,B0000
  • other - MISTI, Dimensionals, white embossing powder, heat tool, wave stencil, blending brushes, black marker, 2022-2024 in-colour matte decorative dots (SU)

Pop over to the JAI blog to see how this picture inspired my fellow team mates.

Thanks for dropping in.

Fragrant Blossoms

Today's card is very simple - one stencil, one stamp. I inked the rose first with so saffron then went back in with daffodil delight and a much finer brush to add some shading. The sentiment was done in basic grey which has a softer effect than black. It's the first time I've used this rose stencil and I just love how it turned out.

Materials used:

  • stamps - Grace's Garden
  • card - whisper white
  • other - stitched rectangle die, Big Shot, Stamparatus, blending brushes, craft foam, clear enamel dots, rose stencil, Pixie spray

That's all there is to it! Hope you've had a chance to create today, simple or complicated. Thanks for calling in. Stay safe.

More Winged Things

Browsing through Pinterest last night I found a card by Shana that inspired me to get straight into my craft room and create. It's a great one for my 'Things with Wings' challenge with my ladies and I also got to play with my DO's again, so score!!!

It's a one layer card, which as we all know is unusual for me but hey, it will be great for postage!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Leaf Canopy (Altenew)
  • card - whisper white
  • distress oxide inks - scattered straw, seedless preserves, chipped sapphire, black soot
  • other - Wings of Flight stencil (Inkylicious), masking paper, blending brushes, water spritzer, heat tool, Stamparatus

Love that colour combo for the sky - wonder if I'll be able to remember it for another card sometime? Lol. I masked off the top and lower portions of my card front before blending the DO inks, did my water drops then dried it all off before removing the masks and stencilling the birds and stamping the sentiment.

Hope you're doing well and staying safe. Thanks for stopping by.
