Congrats - Just Add Ink Challenge #744

This week at Just Add Ink it's a Choose Two challenge and the options are

It occurred to me I could combine two options - rainbows and flowers - in one fell swoop by using some very old but new-to-me things a friend sent, and that's how this card was born.

As I wanted the rainbow floral panel to be the focal feature, I kept everything else very plain and picked a versatile greeting that can be used for many occasions.

Materials used:
  • other - congrats die (stash), floral 3D embossing folder (Stampin' Up), Big Shot, Scratch-Art card, nail buffer, craft foam
Check out more samples to inspire you over on the challenge blog and if you feel like creating, we'd love to see it. Thanks for dropping by.

Congrats Songbirds

Over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge their theme this week is Stencil Fun, plus they're showcasing PinkFresh Studios. As luck would have it, I have some PinkFresh stencils I haven't used in a while, although it's not mandatory to use their products.

I pulled out the beautiful Songbirds on Branches collection - stamp, stencils and die - and was in the mood for some autumn colours. Yes, I know it's actually spring here, but seriously, with the weather we're having this week it might as well be autumn again!

I stamped in copper ink and clear embossed before using oxide inks with my stencils. Once dry and die-cut, it was a matter of moving the bits around until I was happy with the arrangement. I did some dry embossing on the background for a bit of added interest and die-cut a sentiment in copper foil and vellum.

Materials used:
  • stamp/stencil/die - Songbirds on Branches (PinkFresh Studios)
  • card - copper clay, very vanilla, copper foil, vellum (Stampin' Up), watercolour
  • distress oxide inks - fired brick, spiced marmalade, aged mahogany, dried marigold, fossilized amber, rusty hinge
  • other - Scripty embossing folder (SU), Big Shot, MISTI, blending brushes, Dimensionals, foam strips, double stitched rectangle die, Congrats shadow die

Layering stencils are so fun to work with and take a lot of effort out of colouring images, lol. What's not to like?

This is my second post today so scroll down for another challenge card and thanks for dropping in.

Cheers

The Owls Have It

For classes next week my ladies will be having a hoot and making some owl cards. They are very similar to ones I've done before, but I have simplified them a little so the beginners class won't have much trouble (I hope!).

Firstly, one that can be used for an engagement, wedding or anniversary:

Next a get well card - and the ladies DEMANDED my doctor and nurse owls!

The three wise owls are very popular too and whoooo could possibly resist them in a peek-a-boo card?

The leaves are from the Leaves #2 die and I've used my new woodgrain background stamp. Don't you love the paper on their tummies? So perfect for owls - it's from the Elegant Soiree set.

Have I persuaded you to get this punch yet? More owl ideas coming, so stay tuned! Thanks for calling in.

Cheers
