Easter Goodies

Over at Crafters Anonymous I joined in the Easter Swap for a bit of fun. Our brief was:

• Rule 1: Item MUST contain Chocolate
• Rule 2: It can be any medium
• Rule 3: It must be in a bag or box

Since my swap buddy, Theresa, has let me know that she has received my goodies, I can now show them to you.

Firstly I made an easel card and my colours were heavily influenced by some lovely cards made by Jenny Moors as I liked her Spring-like combo. I pulled out the A Good Egg set for it's annual dust off! and set to work. 

Now, boxes aren't really my strength but I figure I'll only get better if I practice (that's the theory anyway!), so firstly I had an attempt at a box made with the scallop envelope die. I'm not completely sure that it is perfectly square, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Here's my effort:

Next I made a box made from the mini milk carton die and I felt more confident with this one. I've gone with the simple tie top version and yes, there's a chick on all six sides. I think I'll be making some more of these; they were reasonably easy and I love how it looks a lot like a bag.

The best part was filling them with chocolate goodies! I added in some little chicks too for a bit of fun.

Materials used:

• stamps - A Good Egg
• card - peach parfait, so saffron, Baja breeze, watercolour paper
• DSP - so saffron patterned (retired), peach parfait patterned, Baja breeze patterned (retired)
• ribbon - Baja breeze seam binding, pumpkin pie grosgrain
• punches - scallop circle, XL scallop circle, 2 3/8" circle, non SU circle, large oval, scallop oval, decorative label
• other - mini milk carton die, scallop envelope die, so saffron brads, crop-o-dile

Now it's getting obsessive!

OK, you had to be expecting it.

It was inevitable, really, let's face it.

I'm sure it will come as no surprise to many of you.

After all, what else could possibly happen, based on past performance?

Yes, you're right. I've gone and done it.

Again.

Made another owl.

Not just any old owl. Ohhhhh no.

An Easter owl.

Having trouble thinking how owls and Easter can match up? Well, you see, here's how it happened ...

... so, I was in the shops and saw those cute little hairbands that always pop up around Easter. You know the ones, they are white and fluffy and have cute bunny ears attached. And little kids wear them and look adorable. Well, my girls did anyways ... looked adorable in them, that is. I'm sure yours do/did too!

So then I got to thinking ... would a little owl wear bunny ears too? And go around looking for eggs hidden in the garden? Of course they would! No owl parent would deprive their child of that kind of fun, now would they? Which raises the side issue of whether or not chocolate is good for owls .... but I digress!

And so my Easter owl was created, dressed in a bunny ear headband and bunny costume and carrying a basket filled with eggs found in the grass.

Ta da!

Damn stinkin' cute is what it is! (YILM!)

Punches used:

• bunny ears - 5 petal flower
• headband - 1" circle, 1 1/4" circle
• bunny tummy - small oval
• owl wings - scallop oval
• basket - owl
• basket handle - small oval, large oval
• eggs - balloon (non SU)
• grass - grass (Martha Stewart)
• branches - 2 step bird

Which Came First?

It was a very full-on week at work this past week, so Friday was the first chance I had to sit down and create something. Trouble was, my mind was so full of ideas that it really was a case of 'Aargh! What do I do first?'!!! LOL

I prepared a couple of cards for my class next week (they're non SU, so they're on my other blog), then decided that even though I had well and truly missed the deadline, I wanted to have a go at last week's Just Add Ink challenge. It was to case either Danielle or Amanda, and there was a simple but effective card of Danielle's I wanted to give an Easter twist to, so here it is:

It doesn't look as good as it did in my head! Ah well. And then, because I had the gorgeous Sweet and Sour papers out, I made another card. This time I used Sweet Summer and So Happy For You, two of the SAB sets.

I just love the cheerfulness of these papers. Well, back to earth now - laundry to do!

Mmmmm ... chocolatey goodness ...

Usually my Lana Ladies get to choose which projects they make in class but for today I insisted on it being Kerry's Surprise. And it's an unusual one because there are no cards involved whatsoever! None! Nada! Zero! Zip! I bet you're thinking, WHAT THE?

Well, ya see, I just had an inkling to make some Easter boxes and baskets. (Hey, it's a grand excuse for a close encounter of the chocolate kind!!!) So I've been having lots of fun over the last week or so deciding which ones we would make, which papers, which stamps, etc and keeping it a big secret, he he!

First up are these two baskets, both so easy to make and fun to decorate using that adorable little chick from A Good Egg. The tutorials for both can be found on Splitcoaststampers.

Then I wanted to have a go at a milk carton with a secret opening in the bottom for removing goodies of the chocolatey kind ... this was designed by Becky Roberts.

The chocolate bunny stamp from the Summer mini was just perfect for this. Here's a close up of the tag detail and the secret opening.

And last but by no means least is another bunny of a very different kind. You've probably seen a few of these around on other blogs because they are a lot of fun to make! My first go at a treat cup project unsupervised!
