Sisters

The colour combination for the Fab Friday challenge really appealed this week:

But before you see my project, you'd better strap in, buckle up or just hang on tight because I've only gone and made a scrapbook page! Shock!!! Yes, there may well be thunderbolts, lol.

I've tried for an antique/shabby chic kind of look. I stamped on my background card and sponged around the edges, then also stamped and sponged on the pink pirouette striped paper. The lace, doily, heart embellishment and pool party embossing powder are all from the Seasonal catty.

The flowers are fabric, the leaves die cut or punched card.

The "sisters" is a chipboard die cut which I embossed with aged ivory embossing enamel - doesn't it look amazing? You'd swear it was worn metal or something.

I adore this shot of my two gorgeous girls and I hope this layout has done it justice.

Materials used:
  • stamps - En Francais, Everything Eleanor, Delicate Doilies, Tiny Tags
  • card - crumb cake, very vanilla, pink pirouette patterned paper, cherry cobbler
  • other - paper doily, pool party embossing powder, heat tool, sponges, artisan embellishment kit
  • non SU - fabric flowers, wooden word, leaf die, leaf punch, aged ivory embossing enamel, rhinestone embellishments, hot glue gun, mounting tape

Thanks for stopping by.

Cheers

Before You Find Your Prince ...

... you all know how that sentence ends ... say it with me ladies ... "you have to kiss a lot of frogs"!!!

Well, while surfing around some blogs tonight I came across the most adorable froggy Valentine card made by Monica Gale and I just HAD to case it. I don't have the paper or stamps that Monica used, so I've changed those, but it is essentially the same. She also has a video tutorial on how to make the card, so if you like it, pop on over and have a look.

I know one of my regulars in particular who will love this, as she is into frogs in a big way! Here's His Froggy Highness ...

Ain't that the cutest? A great card to give to a bloke who isn't in to lovey-dovey (and that's most of them, isn't it?? LOL!!!).

Materials used:
  • stamps - Family Phrases, Tiny Tags
  • card - basic grey, old olive, pear pizzazz, riding hood red, Love Letters DSP, whisper white
  • ink - riding hood red, old olive
  • punches - large oval, wide oval, boho blossoms, 1/2 " circle, heart to heart
  • other - dimensionals, googly eyes (non SU), always artichoke marker, Timeless Type Junior Alphabet dies, circle scissors, crystal effects, whisper white taffeta ribbon, sponge daubers
Thanks for hopping over today!

A Bird in the Hand

Howdy! Today I have another UStamp project to show you, this time a gorgeous double pocket bag and card set designed by Ilina Crouse. You can see Ilina's lovely project here but unfortunately, once again the papers and stamps are not available here in Aus.

For my rendition I have used Lap of Luxury DSP teamed with Every Moment stamp set. Here's the set:

Hope you are enjoying seeing the UStamp projects as much as I am enjoying making them! Thanks for stopping by.

It Has Taken Me A While ...

... to get these photos taken and posted!

Here are some cards I made a couple of weeks back. The first two use On a Pedestal, which is quite a different stamp style to my usual but I like the way the images and sentiments stack and match. Mind you, my purchase was influenced by DH loving a sample of this I brought home from stamp camp - that's a first! LOL!

Love the colour combo here of rich razzleberry, marina mist and pear pizzazz.

The second one is more masculine colours of cajun craze, marina mist and garden green. The background stamp (from level 1 hostess set Afterthoughts) says 'Happy Birthday. Call when it's time for cake' which I thought fitted perfectly!

Then I got to playing with Aviary from the Summer mini. I just adore this set and love all the great samples I have seen on blogs everywhere. My first is a simple design and I've added a touch of bling to each birdcage - but it doesn't show in this small sized version of the photo! (click to enlarge if you want to see the bling)

Secondly some pear pizzazz, poppy parade and concord crush (all in colours) with my fav embossing folder of the moment, square lattice.

The next card we made in classes last week and lo and behold! it's the square lattice again with some more marina mist and rich razzleberry, this time with a touch of daffodil delight.

And lastly a Christmas card cased from the talented Lisa Young. Lisa used the music wheel on her background paper, but I don't have that so I have embossed it instead with a non SU music notes embossing folder. LOVE the cherry cobbler!!!

Thanks for stopping by and as this is most likely my last post before Christmas, I'd like to wish you all a joyous festive season filled with all the people and things you love the most. If you are travelling, stay safe and take care.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Boo!

Just for a something completely different and a bit of fun, I decided to make a Halloween card for the Just Add Ink sketch challenge this week, but unfortunately I missed the deadline! Here's the sketch:

And here is my card:

I've used the Scary Skulls wheel on the Rich Razzleberry and the pumpkin face in the build-a-brad is from a set called Sweeter Treaters (very old SU). I added the Cuttlebug cobweb embossing folder and used bats because the spider in the set was way too big to put two!. The sentiment (which I moved) comes from Tiny Tags and the satin ribbon (love it!) has a "Teneale bow".

Hope you like this little touch of Halloween! Thanks for dropping by.

Amour

Just when I thought Spring had arrived, along comes a cold, grey day to trip me up. Brrrr! So I've been sorting and tidying my craft stuff - a job well and truly overdue, I must admit! And, well, you just can't be sorting papers and ribbons and things without being sorely tempted to sit and make something with them. So I had a play with the gorgeous Artistic Etchings set and new colour Marina Mist.

I had found some papers at my LSS that are similar to SU's newsprint DSP but printed in French, so of course I had to snap them up, didn't I? Obsessive Compulsive Crafter's moral obligation! LOL (I'm sticking to that story!) So here I've teamed them with some lace, satin ribbon and vintage brad. This is my first time using Marina Mist and I am rather taken with it ... it's no Cherry Cobbler, but it's getting there!

Enough rambling, here's my card:

Hope you "amour" it! Thanks for stopping by.

Satin Wings

I couldn't help it.
I just had to do some more butterflies. There's something about flowers and butterflies, isn't there? So serene. Mother Nature is truly amazing.

First up I cased a lovely card by Kirsty Brown but changed the colours completely and added in All A Flutter. I wanted to use this colour combo before these colours are gone forever ... sniff! (It's OK. I'll be alright. Ta.) This is blush blossom, cameo coral and ruby red, with a touch of choc chip.

Then I just had to use Upsy Daisy to pair with AAF. In spite of all kinds of different ideas popping in my head, I fell back to my all time fav, brayering. Just love the effects you can make with this little rubber roller! Here I have used the colours from the JAI challenge a couple of weeks back, just for something a little different - taken with teal, elegant eggplant and melon mambo. Very vibrant..

There is a song about butterflies and love and I always think of it when I use this stamp, so I thought I'd try a wedding/engagement/anniversary card. I stuck with classic black and white and added kraft, soon to be renamed Cookie Crumb! and added the gorgeous medallion in the background.

Well, that's my butterfly obsession for today! Thanks for calling in.

Welcome Abigail

Yesterday I had a lot of fun with punches and baby cards. One of the girls coming to our fun stamp day on Saturday has just had a baby girl, so I wanted to make a card to welcome little Abigail. I've been dying to try a gorgeous rocking horse made from punches that I saw over on Regina's blog at The Stamping Bean. Most of the punches I have, but we don't have the modern label punch here in Aus, so I've used the scallop oval and cut it down.

The colours I've used are lavendar lace, barely banana and certainly celery. I've used the nursery letters wheel on the background, my alphabet dies from the new mini for the capital A and tiny tags set with jewelry tag punch, also both from the mini. (Isn't the mini fantabulouso?!) The purple organza ribbon is from my stash and my huge bundle of embroidery cottons came in very handy for tail, mane and bridle!

I also wanted to have a go at a baby carriage card that I've seen on a few blogs. They are made using the scallop circle die (another thing from the mini!) and are sooooooooooo cute! There are a few different versions but I followed Sandi McIver's tutorial for mine.

Cute as!

Well, I gotta go and mark some assessments for my class so I'll catch you later! Thanks for stopping by.

More Birds and Bees

I forgot last week to show you another bee card we made in class using Just Buzzin' By. I wanted a simple one for my beginner stampers to cope with, so this is what we made:

Materials used:
  • stamps - Just Buzzin' By
  • card & paper - whisper white, basic black, summer sun, Pink Flamingo DSP
  • other - dimensionals
  • non SU - daisy punch, small circle punch
Next week my Lana Ladies are making cards using the 2 step bird punch. A couple of them I have posted earlier (see here) but I came up with another one today. This is another card with tulips using Cottage Wall papers (my ladies love these!). Layout inspired by Susan Joyce.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Tiny Tags
  • card & paper - old olive, rich razzleberry, orchid opulence, whisper white, Cottage Garden DSP
  • other - tiny tag punch, scallop edge punch, 2 step bird punch, dimensionals, old olive grosgrain ribbon, sponge daubers, Big Shot
  • non SU - nestabilities dies
Hope you like them! Thanks for dropping by and have a great day.
