February Sweets

I have a class with my sweet Sunday ladies this week and have left my creating until the not-quite-last-minute! (It's been a busy week!) I wanted to use the gorgeous honeycomb embossing folder again as I just LOVE this thing, so first up is a touch of yellow, black and white.

Do you recognise the roses? They are the flower trim from the Seasonal catalogue which I have coloured in a solution of water and re-inker.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Vintage Verses (SAB), Layered Labels, Four Frames
  • card - daffodil delight, basic black, World Spectacular dsp
  • other - honeycomb E/F, Big Shot, apothecary accents die, little leaves die, paper doily, dimensionals, stamp-a-ma-jig, flower trim
  • non SU - white linen card, organza ribbon

Another colour that goes beautifully with black is pool party and I've used plenty of it in this next card. To give my embossed panel a slightly deeper shade, I inked up my embossing folder before running it through the Big Shot.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Serene Silhouettes
  • card - pool party, basic black, whisper white
  • other - fancy fan E/F, Big Shot, windows framelit die, 1" circle punch, sponges, SAB ribbon, dimensionals
  • non SU - post-it note

Now for something completely different - a boldly coloured masculine card using a couple of new items from the Seasonal catty. (Well, I thought it would make a good masculine card, but DD14 loves it and has claimed it for herself!)

Materials used:
  • stamps - That's The Ticket, Happiest Birthday Wishes (retired hostess)
  • card - cherry cobbler, summer starfruit, whisper white, World Spectacular dsp
  • other - hearts a flutter framelit dies, Big Shot, ticket duo punch, modern label punch, dimensionals, adorning accents edgelit die, sponge dauber

And I am hoping we will have time for a bonus project as well - a cute little gift box inspired by Jen Takacs:

Materials used:
  • stamps - Friendship Preserves
  • card - First Edition dsp, very vanilla
  • other - paper doily, sponge, windows framelits die, Big Shot, flower trim, SAB ribbon

Thanks for stopping by.

Gift Boxes

I've had fun making more hexagon boxes from the mini milk carton die - just love these, they are so easy and so effective.

For the first one I wanted to go all girly and floral for some reason! I used two sets that I got from overseas and am hoping they make it into our new catalogue - Baby Blossoms and Four Frames. My colours are certainly celery, wild wasabi, pretty in pink and regal rose.

My second has the added "legs" and a much bolder colour combination with my favourite "kerry cobbler", marina mist and a touch of gold. These papers are called Paisley Petals - another "foreigner" I am hoping will appear on our shores come September.

Think we might just have to have a class on these soon!

Thanks for dropping by.

Punch Buggy Yellow

Do your kids/grandkids love to play the Yellow Car and Punch Buggie games? My girls do and we often have a hilarious journey trying to beat each other to find both and call "punch buggy yellow"! Being in the driver's seat has its advantages and disadvantages, mind you! But we can't play Yellow car when we are in Melbourne with DD19 as she lives very close to the CBD and all the taxis are yellow! LOL

So having seen a gorgeous punch art VW beetle some time ago, I finally got around to making a punch buggy yellow card - literally! Here tis:

I love it! Takes me back aeons ago to my own childhood when we had a white VW beetle - named Herbie of course! (For those of you ancient enough to remember the original Love Bug movies!)

Thanks for dropping in.

Cheers

Edited to add Punches used:

  • Wide oval - hood & car top
  • Large oval - windshield, hood & side fenders
  • Word Window - bumper
  • Modern Label - tires
  • 1/2" circle - black headlights
  • new punch pack 3/8" circle - gray headlights
  • Horizontal slot punch - rear view mirror, bumper add-ons & hood handle

Unconvention 1 - Swaps

Some friends and I are getting together today for our own version of SU Convention, with projects and shoeboxes and yummy food - just like the real thing! Well, almost! :)

I will be posting throughout the day to show you the projects I have planned, but first up are the swaps I made.

I made a 4" square easel card using my FAVOURITE colour "Kerry Cobbler" teamed with  old olive and very vanilla - a colour combo I adore.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Greeting Card Kids, Because I Care (hostess), Four Frames
  • card - cherry cobbler, very vanilla, old olive, Jolly Holiday DSP
  • punches - scallop trim border punch, decorative label punch
  • other - satin ribbon (Birch), nestabilities die, embossing folder
I'll be back later with the first of the projects I created. See you then!

Cheers
