Crazy Birthday - CAS on Friday Challenge #226

Hi all, welcome to another clean and simple challenge with CAS on Friday. I'm hosting challenge #226  where our theme is a ONE LAYER BIRTHDAY CARD

For my sample I chose to do some simple masking and watercolouring with an adorably quirky bird. Just love this little guy.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Mini Bird Crazy and Things (Tim Holtz), Typed Sentiments (Paper Rose)
  • card - watercolour (300gsm)
  • distress inks - salvaged patina, black soot
  • distress crayons - mermaid lagoon, twisted citron, prize ribbon, picked raspberry, carved pumpkin, mustard seed, crackling campfire
  • other - post-it notes, MISTI, aqua painter, black soot archival ink, clear embossing powder, heat tool, white gel pen, black marker, water spritzer, blending brush

We'd love to see your card in our gallery and of course do follow the link to the CASOF blog to look at the other samples created to inspire you.

This is my last challenge with CAS on Friday as I've chosen to step down from the design team after two years. It has been a pleasure and a wonderfully growing experience as a crafter and I hope if CAS is your jam that you'll continue to support their challenges moving forward.

Thanks for calling in.

Cheers

Spring Flowers - CAS on Friday Challenge #225

Hi all! It's time for another clean and simple challenge and this time around at CAS on Friday we're celebrating Spring Flowers.

I've yet to experience a spring here in my new home but back in the Blue Mountains it was always wonderful to see those first buds (usually freesias) pop up to tell you the cold days were numbered and the warmth and freshness of Spring would soon be on its way. One of the flowers I loved having in my garden was lavender, not just because it was a low maintenance plant and drought tolerant (very important here in Australia), but because it bloomed in mid Spring and gave us glorious colour and scent all through Spring and Summer.

I’ve featured lavender on my mini slimline card.

Materials used:

  • stamps - Flowers in Bloom (MFT)
  • card - very vanilla, watercolour
  • dies - Wildflower Stems 2 (Tim Holtz)
  • distress oxide inks - villainous potion, milled lavender, dusty concord, bundled sage
  • other - mounting tape, white bakers twine, V15 Copic marker, aquapainter, paint brush

We would love to see your creation in our gallery if you choose to make one, and do pop over to the CASOF blog to see what lovely cards my team mates made to inspire you.

Thanks for visiting.

Cheers

Accept Who You Are - CAS on Friday challenge #224

Welcome! It's time for another clean and simple card challenge with CAS on Friday and this time around our theme is MALE cards.

I have kept my card incredibly simple, allowing my die-cut piece to take centre stage - even the few tiny paint splatters are localised to the sentiment.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Theories (Tim Holtz)
  • card - basic black, watercolour
  • distress oxide inks - candied apple, carved pumpkin, mustard seed, mowed lawn, salvaged patina, wilted violet
  • dies - Umbrella Man (Tim Holtz), stitched rectangle
  • other - white embossing powder, heat tool, Big Shot Switch, Dimensionals, craft foam, black marker, MISTI, water spritzer, blending brushes, white paint

We'd love you to join us in creating a CAS card for a male someone in your life. More inspiration can be found at the CAS on Friday blog where my fellow team mates have plenty to get your creative juices flowing!

Hexagons - CAS on Friday Challenge #223

Welcome to CAS on Friday challenge #223 where our theme is HEXAGONS.

There are so many ways to use this versatile shape! For my card I used them to add colour and texture as a compliment to my die-cut flower.

The mosaic pieces are ones I made some time ago with a stencil, crackle texture paste and a number of SU embossing powders, so I merely cut them with hexagon dies. I used some of the colours from those patterns for my flower. Some ink speckles for the background, a simple sentiment and touch of sparkle, and my card was good to go!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Tiny Words Birthday (SSS), Gorgeous Grunge (SU)
  • card - watercolour, soft sea foam
  • distress oxide inks - mustard seed, fossilized amber, mowed lawn, rustic wilderness, pumice stone, barn door
  • other Tim Holtz products - stacked hexagon dies, wildflower stems 3 die, mosaic stencil, distress crackle texture paste, picket fence distress paint
  • other - various embossing powders (SU), heat tool, Dimensionals, blending brushes, stitched rectangle die, Big Shot Switch, paint brush, clear sequins, craft foam, peeled paint archival ink, Memento tuxedo black ink

We'd love you to create your own clean and simple card featuring hexagons and load it in our gallery. If you'd like further inspiration, follow the link to the CAS on Friday blog to see my team mates' cards.

Thanks for calling in.

  • card - basic white, crumb cake
  • Copic markers - V0000,V000,V01,G40,G43

Baby, It's Cold Outside - CAS on Friday Challenge #219

Thanks for joining me for another clean and simple challenge. WINTER is the theme for CAS on Friday challenge #219.

I couldn't resist using this adorable layering snowman die called Winston. He's so sweet! I love him in pastels too. Whole, he's too big for a CAS card so I gave him a little 'cameo' appearance, lol, and didn't use all the layers available.

I added some shimmer to the bottom layer of the scarf and the pieces that came out of the top layer made perfect snowflakes!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Tiny Text Christmas (Tim Holtz)
  • card - very vanilla, watercolour
  • distress oxide inks - salvaged patina, kitsch flamingo, vintage photo, carved pumpkin
  • dies - Winston Colorize (Tim Holtz), layering circles (SU)
  • other - blending brushes, heat tool, Big Shot, black rhinestones, salvaged patina embossing glaze, MISTI, clear Wink of Stella, tweezers, embossing buddy, Dimensionals, craft foam

We'd love for you to join us in our winter challenge and my fellow team members have more samples to inspire you.

Thanks for calling in.

Leaf Canopy - CAS on Friday Challenge #218

Welcome to another clean and simple challenge with CAS on Friday. For challenge #218 our theme is LEAVES.

For my card I tried a new-to-me technique of colouring on black watercolour card with metallic watercolour paints. They were so easy to use and blended beautifully in the autumn tones I've used here.

Materials used:

  • stamps - Leaf Canopy stamps and dies (Altenew)
  • card - basic black, black watercolour
  • other - Big Shot, MISTI, craft foam, stitched rectangle die, metallic watercolour paints, copper embossing powder, heat tool, aquapainter

We'd love you to create your own leaves themed card for the challenge. To inspire you further, pop over to the CASOF blog to see what my fellow team mates came up with.

Believe in the Magic - CAS on Friday Challenge #217

Welcome back to another clean and simple challenge with CAS on Friday. Hopefully this one will really get your creative juices flowing because our theme is COFFEE

I was in a whimsical mood when I made my card, as you'll see from the sentiment I chose:

Personally, I don't drink coffee, lol, but I do certainly believe in the magic of my favourite chai latte to get me going each morning so I'm thinking it's pretty much the same thing! Both my daughters are firmly in the camp of needing that shot of java to bring the brain on line, so they'll get a laugh out of this.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Tiny Text Christmas (Tim Holtz)
  • card - basic white, crisp cantaloupe, Sahara sand, crisp cantaloupe patterned paper
  • other - stitched rectangle die, Big Shot, Coffee Cup thinlits (SU), blending brushes, craft foam, MISTI, Cafe Colorize (Tim Holtz), Nothing's Better Than thinlits (SU), Coffee Beans stencil (Paper Rose), pool party ink

We'd love you to play along with our challenge and have plenty more cards to inspire you over on the CASOF blog, so please do pop over for a visit.

Thanks for dropping by.

Who's Your Mummy? - CAS on Friday Challenge #216

Time once more to dust off your craft goodies and keep things simple - clean and simple, that is. Over at CAS on Friday we've got another challenge for you and this time you can pick between AUTUMN or HALLOWEEN.

Anyone else's kids read the Goosebumps books? 'Who's Your Mummy' was the title of one from which I took my blog post title to go along with this adorable little baby mummy out to scare absolutely no-one, lol.

Isn't it just the cutest? We don't really get trick or treaters calling here in my little part of Aus (even before the pandemic), but I still buy lollies just in case...😉

Materials used:
  • stamps - Baby Mummy (Mo Manning)
  • card - basic white, basic black, tangelo twist, Monochrome Basics 1.1A designer paper (Paper Rose)
  • Copic markers - E00, E01, E11, C0, C2, W0, W2
  • dies - Nesting Tags (Kaisercraft), Alphanumeric Tiny Type Lower (Tim Holtz)
  • other - Big Shot, mummy cloth ribbon (Halloween Trimmings - Tim Holtz), 4/10" circle punch, Crop-o-dile

We'd love for you to share your favourite Autumn or Halloween things with us and of course there are more cards to inspire you over on the CASOF blog.

Thanks for dropping by.

How Old? - CAS on Friday Challenge #215

It's time for some clean and simple in our lives! Yep, the CAS on Friday challenge has rolled around again.

This is challenge #215 and the theme is CIRCLES. I chose some cogs for a guy card.

I absolutely LOVE the quirked brow on this gentleman that gives him such a skeptical look, especially paired with that sentiment (roflol), so I made my cogs very worn and grungy to tie in with the aged theme. To get them like that, once I had cut my die I used fingers to spread grit paste all over to give texture, then once dry I simply dabbed different coloured paints and a bit of archival ink too. I hope they look suitably decrepit!

Materials used:
  • stamps - Inquisitive (Tim Holtz)
  • card - basic black, basic white
  • distress paints - frayed burlap, black soot, salvaged patina, rusty hinge
  • other - Gearhead dies (Tim Holtz), craft foam, Dimensionals, Copic markers, MISTI, vintage photo distress archival ink, heat tool, Big Shot

My fellow team mates have some wonderful samples to inspire you, so do pop over to the CASOF blog to take a look, and of course we'd love you to join in the challenge with your own interpretation of circles.

Thanks for dropping by.

Use Your Wings - CAS on Friday Challenge #214

For Challenge #214 Janneke has given us this great sketch:

I've taken a fairly liberal interpretation of the sketch, making an inky splodge background rather than a precise circle and using a tree branch as my horizontal line.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Tiny Text (Tim Holtz)
  • card - early espresso, watercolour
  • distress oxide inks - speckled egg, stormy sky, weathered wood, crackling campfire, walnut stain, vintage photo
  • dies - Feathered Friends (TH), Colourful Seasons (SU)
  • other - water spritzer, heat tool, MISTI, black rhinestone, distress crayons, sponge dauber

I do hope you'll take a look at the samples my fellow team members have made to inspire you and even be tempted to join our challenge. Just follow the link here.

Thanks for calling in.

Reach for your Dreams - CAS Challenge #211

Welcome to a new clean and simple challenge with CAS on Friday. For challenge #211 our theme is YOUR FAVOURITE STAMP OF THE MOMENT.

The stamp I've chosen is a brand new favourite - when I saw it for the first time I instantly fell in love for two reasons: (1) giraffes have always been my favourite animal and (2) the quirkiness appeals so much to my personality (so I guess maybe I'm a bit of an oddball too, lol). I just had to have it and I'm so glad I did - it makes me happy every time I look at it.

Materials used:

  • stamps - Oddball Giraffe (Stamping Bella)
  • card - basic white
  • Copic markers - Y17, YR24, YR27, E13, E15, E39, B000, B00
  • other - MISTI, craft foam

With the options wide open, now is perfect opportunity for you to join us and show off your fav stamp right now, so what are you waiting for? Pop over to the CASOF blog to see what my team mates have made to inspire you, then get creating!

  • card - basic black, basic white
  • distress oxide ink - salvaged patina
  • dies - Bundle of Baby Clothes (My Favorite Things), small birds (stash)

Sunflowers - CAS on Friday Challenge #209

Hi everyone, welcome back. It's time for another clean and simple challenge at CAS on Friday and this time around our theme is SUNSHINE. Here's my card:

I've used the spotlight technique on my card, highlighting only a portion of the stamped image. The coloured image was stamped separately and fussy cut as I wanted it to extend beyond the borders slightly, but if you didn't want to do that, it could be one stamping only.

Materials used:
  • stamps - Jar of Flowers (SU), Full of Sunshine (MFT)
  • card - whisper white, basic black, cinnamon cider
  • Copic markers - Y15, Y19, YR24, E15, E23
  • other - Stamparatus, craft foam

We'd love for you to join our Sunshine challenge - just follow the link above to the blog to enter. While you're there, check out the lovely creations from my fellow team members and feel free to leave us all some comment love!

Thanks for dropping by.

Fly Away Home - CAS on Friday Challenge #208

It's time for another clean and simple challenge with CAS on Friday. This is challenge #208 and our theme is LADYBIRDS/LADYBUGS.

We get so many native birds in our backyard that it would be easy to overlook the smaller creatures, but I do love to see butterflies and ladybirds as well. Of course, the childrens' nursery song comes to mind instantly, lol, as I'm sure it does for many of us.

Here's my ladybird card:

Aren't those little ladybug trinkets the cutest? They're metallic so I simply coloured them with alcohol markers.

Materials used:
  • card - watercolour, seaside spray, basic white, seaside spray patterned paper
  • distress oxide inks - twisted citron, mowed lawn, rustic wilderness, speckled egg, mustard seed
  • other - Wildflower Stems 1 die (Tim Holtz/Sizzix), Sidekick, aqua painter, glossy accents, white pigment ink, stitched rectangle die, Dimensionals, Small Talk stickers (Tim Holtz), ladybug trinkets (SU), alcohol markers

Do pop on over to the CASOF blog to admire the creations my fellow team members have made to inspire you.

Thanks for calling in.

Flowerful Thanks - CAS on Friday Challenge #207

Welcome to CAS on Friday challenge #207. This time around our theme is FLOWERS.

There are an endless number of possibilities for this theme and, of course, floral cards can be used for so many different occasions. It's no wonder most stamp companies issue plenty of flower stamps!

For my offering I chose to use layering dies from Tim Holtz/Sizzix. Doing all the layers in the same colour card and just using ink sponging to give definition makes it a much simpler task than layering with different colours. (Excuse the shadow showing behind there - vagaries of the weather while taking pics lol)

The white-on-white background adds interest and texture without detracting from the floral focal point.

Materials used:

  • stamps - Itty Bitty Greetings (SU)
  • card - basic white, so saffron, old olive, early espresso
  • other - Bloom dies (Tim Holtz/Sizzix), Gothic stencil (TH), texture paste matte, Dimensionals, craft foam

I'm sure you've got some flower stamps or dies in your collection, so why not join us in the challenge? We'd love to have you! Just click HERE to go to the blog post and also see what gorgeous samples my fellow team mates have created for your inspiration.

Thanks for dropping by.
